PAC Message

September 2022
Hello DW Poppy families!
Welcome to all of our new and returning DW Poppy parents and guardians! I am very excited to let
you know about some of the ways that you can get involved in our school. Whether you have one
hour to give or are interested in helping out with one of our bigger programs or events, your efforts
and involvement make a big difference to our staff and students.
How do I get started? All Poppy parents and guardians are members of our school’s Parent Advisory
Council and are encouraged to attend monthly PAC meetings. You can learn more about what
goes on in our school, meet other parents, learn more about some of the ways that you can get
involved, ask any questions you might have, and get to know our teachers and administrators.
Here is our PAC meeting schedule for the 2022-23 school year:
Sept.20
Oct.5
Nov.2 PAC meetings are held at 7:00pm in the Learning Commons
Jan.4
Feb.1 on the 1st Wednesday of each month (no meeting in December or March)
April 5
May 3
Other important ways you can get involved and stay connected to our school community:
1. You can join our DW Poppy Parent and Guardian Facebook page and go to the school’s website
and click on ‘parent community’ for more information and links.
2. Consider making a donation to our PAC using School Cash Online
Even if you are unable to volunteer or attend PAC meetings, you may consider making a donation to
the PAC using https://sd35.schoolcashonline.com/. All donated funds go directly to supporting and
enhancing opportunities for our staff and students. We decide how best to allocate funds at our
monthly PAC meetings.
3. If you would like to join our PAC executive, we will be holding our elections for the current school
year at our AGM, on October 5th.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or suggestions. We are looking forward to a
fantastic year ahead!
