We would like to express our thanks to all of the Grade 8 and Grade 12 parents, as well as all of our Music parents, who came out to the Grade 8 and Grade 12 Parent Information Evenings earlier this week! At D.W. Poppy, we strongly believe in the importance of good communication and connection between the school and home. We also know that students tend to be more successful at school when their parents are connected and involved with the school community. Being new to the school this year, I enjoyed the opportunity to introduce myself and meet many of you over these evenings and look forward to meeting many more of you throughout the course of this year.
As we look ahead to October, which is fast approaching, there are a couple of other important dates and events that parents should be aware of in order to stay on top of their child’s learning. The week of October 10 to 13 in Interim Reporting Week at D.W. Poppy and teachers will be sending home progress reports on student learning up to that point in the school year. This is closely followed by the first round of Parent-Teacher Interviews that will take place on Wednesday October 18 and Thursday October 19. Stay tuned to the Redhawk Release and other emails from the school for more information regarding interim reports and how to book Parent-Teacher Interviews. I also look forward to meeting some of you at the first D.W. Poppy PAC Meeting on Tuesday September 26 at 7 pm in the D.W. Poppy Learning Commons.
